Customer Testimonials

Just some of the comments we’ve received from our customers.

We've been to Cromwells a few times now and everytime we've left with smiles on our faces! The atmosphere of this restaurant is really friendly, the service is second to none and the food is first class.

We recently had a small party (pre-wedding dinner) there and all of our friends and family who came were really impressed with the food and service, and our friends have already said they want to go back there when they come to visit!

It's now our restaurant of choice and we're still working our way through the menu!

We ate at Cromwells on a Sunday lunchtime a few weeks ago and had a great experience.

The food is great quality, focusing on local, fresh ingredients but without ever straying into the pretentious. We thought that the service was friendly and helpful without being over the top - nothing was too much trouble and they were very welcoming to our young baby as well (not like some places where pushchairs are seen as an inconvenience!).

The Sunday roast is great - excellent meat, but also a lot of attention to detail in terms of well cooked veg and homemade yorkshire puddings - and the pudding was excellent as well.

Reasonably priced wine list with some wines by the glass is a good addition as well.

Highly recommended and we will definitely be back. Their slogan is "local food for local people" and it is very much the perfect neighbourhood restaurant, but actually we are not that local and it was definitely worth the trip.

From the minute you walk in you are made to feel very welcome.
The Menu makes it rather tricky to decide what you want... a great selection of starters ranging from soup to more adventurous delights makes you sometimes feel like trying the lot! The Soup is never ordinary soup!
The Main courses are even more difficult to choose from.. every one is worthy of eating.
Homemade fishcakes..... Turkey & Mushroom pie... Mixed Grill... all wonderful !
And how can I not mention the wine menu... and beer! Peroni...
Great food, a lovely drink or too and then there is the warm welcome and friendly feel of the place.
I have eaten at many restaurants over the years.... and Cromwell's rates in my top 5 of all time. Value for money... and all I have mentioned above... but maybe above all else it is nice to know you are always made to feel welcome and you will not be disappointed. A top class restaurant on my door step almost... perfect :-)
There are of course other features and highlights .. but you'll have to find out for yourselves!

The food is no-nonsense but top quality. I've had the best cooked steak i've ever had there, the best fish, the best veg. Service is lovely from Kay and the waitresses, non obtrusive yet attentive. The place has recently been modernised and is quiet and cosy, with a real fire and fine facilities, also has an extensive wine list and draught beer.

Neven been disappointed, all the ingredients are locally sourced and perfectly cooked, and the portion sizes are perfect, leaving you satisfied instead of bloated. Every meal we've had seems just perfectly "balanced".
Recommend everyone in Wirral hunts out hidden gem and enjoys a fine value meal there.

I first visited Cromwells with my partner not long after the birth of our daughter when we were both in dire need of a good meal. Cromwells was just what we needed and the meal I had long dreamed about (and still do!)!
The food is delicious and much of it is locally sourced which is a very rare treat these days. I had the potato wedges to start, steak and pepper sauce for main and then toffee waffles for pud. The wedges are really chunky and rustic just how real potato wedges should be, the steak was perfectly cooked and really juicy and im normally very fussy when it comes to meat. All the veg was really fresh and the toffee waffles were a deliciously sweet way to end the meal.
The portion sizes are perfect, not so much that you feel totally overfaced but enough to satisfy even the largest of appetites. The menu has something for everyone and I endevour to try it all eventually. The staff are really friendly and attentive and the overall atmosphere is really chilled and cosy.We sat by the open fire and really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere whilst being served delicious food. I can't wait to go again in the very near future!

We visited Cromwells last night for a 60th birthday party and couldn't have hoped for more. It's a smallish but comfortable and well designed restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere, friendly and efficient service, and the locally sourced food is as good as any I've eaten. The positive reviews are well deserved!

As we have now been here several times we have eaten quite a few of the different dishes & can truthfully say that the quality is outstanding. Infact if you look down the restaurant you can see the food being prepared - always comforting to see. Where Cromwells really scores highly for us is the service. Genuinely attentive & friendly nothing is too much trouble. This really adds to the dining experience & why we keep going back. This is the type of place you could quite happily go to for a bite to eat or a special occasion. It really does rank as one of the best & well worth a wander off the beaten track.

Fantastic little gem hidden on the Wirral, built up a massive reputation through social media and held onto it with stunning food, personal touches and a warm cosy environment. There aren't many places like this around, definatley worth a visit.

My wife & I first went to Cromwells for an anniversary celebration and were both bowled over by the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. We had a lovely evening, lots of great wine and delicious, melt in the mouth, food. We've been back many times since and I'd highly recommend them to anyone.
